Our Story
Alakara means “thank you” in the Akarimojong language of northeastern Uganda. In the neighbouring Ateso language, it also means “happiness.” At its heart, alakara expresses joy, gratitude, and connection—exactly what we hope every traveller feels on our journeys.
Founded in Uganda, Alakara Travels is owned by a team with strong ties to Norway, where we also run our sister company, Alakara reiser. This connection allows us to blend deep local roots with an international perspective. Our love for Uganda drives us to share its vibrant culture, breathtaking landscapes, and incredible wildlife, alongside inspiring people with curious travellers.
