Alakara Travels takes you beyond the familiar path to Uganda’s cultures, connections, and landscapes.
Escape the usual route and immerse yourself in a unique journey through northeastern Uganda. Alakara Guest House offers a welcoming haven where culture, nature, and farm life come together. Whether stopping overnight between Kampala and Kidepo, Kapchorwa and Murchison Falls, or coming just for the experience, every visit is memorable.
Nestled within Okra Farm in Kobulin village, Alakara Guest House is a serene retreat that celebrates the landscape and culture of Karamoja. The guest house features five traditional huts, built with locally sourced materials and traditional techniques. While huts are not self-contained, a shared ablution block with toilets and showers ensures comfort.
Surrounded by a flourishing garden, with fruit trees, flowers, and original trees dotting the landscape, guests can enjoy fresh air, vibrant colors, and the occasional visit from farm animals like goats, cows, and chickens. The large grass-thatched lounge area invites you to relax in a hammock and soak in the calm of the countryside.
Immerse yourself in local life and traditions:
Every meal is a celebration of local flavors. Our chef prepares fresh, flavorful dishes using produce from the farm and nearby markets, giving guests an authentic taste of the region
Alakara Guest House is not just a stop—it’s a destination in itself. For travelers between Kampala and Kidepo or other regions like Kapchorwa and Murchison Falls, an overnight (or two!) here turns a long journey into a memorable adventure.
Take the scenic route through Karamoja’s dramatic landscapes, passing pastoral plains, seasonal rivers, and villages full of life. Encounter herders guiding their cattle, men and women in traditional dress, and the vibrant rhythm of rural life—experiences you won’t find along the usual highways.
