Uganda has a pleasant climate throughout the year, with temperatures usually ranging between 18 and 30 degrees. Being located at the equator, there is no summer and winter, but rather dry and wet seasons. It is perfectly fine to visit Uganda throughout the year. And rest assured, even in the midst of the rainy season we’ve yet to experience a full day in Uganda without sunshine! For activities like gorilla tracking or hiking in the Rwenzoris or Mount Elgon, the dry seasons—from approximately December to February and June to October—are ideal.

Yes, it is compulsory to have the yellow fever vaccination to enter Uganda. You must carry your yellow card and present it at immigration. Additionally, it is highly recommended to consult your GP or a travel clinic about other necessary vaccines before your trip.

 

Malaria is a serious and prevalent disease throughout Uganda. It is highly advisable to use malaria prophylaxis for the duration of your stay and to apply insect repellent in the evenings. Consult your doctor or travel clinic to determine the most suitable type of malaria prophylaxis for you.
